About Edinburgh
Overlooked by an imposing castle, Edinburgh is a city which you will warm to straight away. Split into the Old Town and the New Town by Princes Street, the former is full of traditional bars, world class museums and quirky shops, while the latter is where high street chains, cutting edge restaurants and chic clubs rule the roost.
Due to the number of backpackers and students that decide to name the Scottish capital their humble abode, it is a relatively cheap city. Even if you are on the tightest of budgets, you can eat well and socialise too.
August is the most popular month with visitors. From the end of July to the beginning of September no fewer than 6 festivals are held. Three months later millions descend on to the city again for the Hogmanay Festival, the largest New Years Festival in Europe. But any time is a good time to visit Edinburgh and you won’t be home long before you begin planning your next trip.
